We’ve been in Scotland almost five years but not seen anything quite like this. We have about 6-9 inches of snow here – night time temperatures down to -10C. The forecasts suggest that it’s going to be like this for the next ten days at least.
It’s very beautiful but moving around is a little challenging. So it’s good that we are in that extraordinary space which follows Christmas …
6-9 inches? That’s nothing!
Here, somewhere in the heartland of the United States, we had 17 inches over Christmas. For the first time in 20 years of ordained ministry, worship services on Christmas Day were canceled.
And now, on New Years Night, we’re expected temps down to -36C.
If there are any parishes in Scotland needing the services of a parish priest, I’m looking for someplace balmy.
